5. Reflections on a Gift of India
Small children
I am going to be careful with this blog and only go as far as C.S. Lewis went. I do not enjoy the company of small children. I also don’t expect to have them alongside me constantly at an Ayurvedic Retreat, right? Wrong, this is India.
The Indians love their children which is doubtlessly a sign of health whilst I . . .

Call it sleep
I fell asleep last night at 11:20 pm and then the vast amount of pink Ayurvedic water I drink forced me up and out of bed. I wondered if it was after 6 am. On the way back from the loo I checked and it was 3:44 in the morning.
I tried not to think and so lay back in bed. At home in the UK I can usually rejoin the sleep . . .
3. The Barbados Papers
Standing barefoot in the dark
It is day one for me in Barbados, and the clock hands swing on. I have now been awake 18 hours. Gretchen, my new friend and next-door neighbour, has gone to get my landlady whom I have yet to meet. I can hear them outside.

My experience is . . .

Restoring your flow of energy
You may not notice at first when your energy starts to shut down. If you are sensitive too much screen time and too long a telephone call can be cause enough. For the hardier amongst us too many late nights on Netflix and too much take-away food can do it. You are sitting at your desk or you are walking down the street and . . .
2. The Barbados Papers

Why The Barbados Papers?
Because I woke up with that title and I am in the mood to write a book. Because I moved there lock, stock and barrel and I found it too difficult a place to live. Because Papers is bureaucratic and officious and that’s what the public sector there was. Papers is also old world and . . .

Turning on the tap
I am at my desk in India and now it is day 14 of my fresh-hatched life. I really do have the feeling I went from being a writer on the inside waiting, to becoming someone else.
Myself but manifesting as an excited writer, writing.
My family of friends in India appear to be dealing with me normally.
I am still wearing the . . .
